Its coming - Apple Tablet in March

Apple may ship its much awaited multimedia tablet device in March, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal on Monday.

Apple will announce the tablet later this month but the shipping date could change as plans have not been finalized.

The new device will come with a touchscreen sized about 10 inches to 11 inches and the company is working on two different finishes for the tablet, the report said.

Rumors about an Apple tablet have been floating for more than a year, and the Financial Times in December reported that Apple had reserved a location in San Francisco on January 26 for the possible launch of a tablet.

Financial analysts have said that the launch of a tablet-like device from Apple was imminent. The device is expected to be a larger version of the iPhone on which users can listen to music, play games, watch video or read electronic books. Kai-Fu Lee, a former Apple employee and previously the president of Google in China, recently blogged that the tablet would come with 3D graphics and a price tag below £1000.

Apple reportedly has already made deals with service providers to deliver content to the device. Apple’s purchase of streaming music provider Lala.com in December has also been linked to the tablet PC.

Enthusiast Web sites have speculated that the device may be called the iSlate, after MacRumors discovered that the islate.com domain name was owned by Apple

eBay Motors founder Simon Rothman announced on Monday that he has officially launched a new e-commerce site, Glyde.  lyde’s goal “is to democratize e-commerce.” The site was born out of Rothman’s desire to make it easier for Web users to buy and sell products online.  But Glyde throws in a twist. The site’s marketplace is designed for Web users to sell used goods. They can sell books, CDs, DVDs, and video games.

Kasabian Guitar ‘Football’ Hero??

Based on recent trends, it appears that Guitar Hero is everyone’s favorite platform to experiment on these days.  I came across this large-scale hack created as part of rock band Kasabian’s upcoming album release. Utilizing freestyle footballers from Woody & Kleiny, the promotion features wall-mounted controls placed in front of a three-story screen. Soccer balls kicked at the life-size panels provide the physical interface for the game within the game. The end result is an impressive (and somewhat chaotic) display of skill and innovative rethink of the Guitar Hero platform.  Genius!!!  To see the video click here

Fans of the Foo Fighters will be happy to know that the guys are to stage a streaming concert live tomorrow night on Facebook, direct from the band’s Studio 606 headquarters in Los Angeles. You can RSVP to the event here, and stream it live here beginning at 7 PM PST tomorrow. As with Facebook’s other recent video streaming events, users will be invited to update their status messages with their thoughts about the concert, which will draw in even more fans as they see the updates in their news feeds. Nice little iphone app I came across the other day Cadence allows you to instantly play songs from your iTunes music library on your iphone, that match the beat you want using a simple slider.   Match your motion to the beat and let go. Brilliant.
